The lantana is a vibrant, hardy plant that is the ultimate summer warrior, with its bright, multi-colored blooms a magnet for butterflies and hummingbirds. It’s one of those  summer flowers  that doesn’t mind being neglected! In warm regions, it is considered a weed, so avoid planting it in the ground.

2. Gaillardia

Botanical name:   Gaillardia x grandiflora

The perennial perennial (USDA Zones 10, 11) Gaillardia is also known as  sundance  . It is a must for any summer garden. With its striking daisy-like blooms in shades of red, yellow and orange, it’s sure to be a sensation. Additionally, it is a low-maintenance plant that can withstand heat and even poor soil conditions.

Coneflower is a popular perennial that has earned a spot on the list for its long-lasting, daisy-like blooms in shades of pink, purple, and white. It’s one of those  summer flowers that never stops blooming  if you kill it once in a while.

Botanical name:  Rudbeckia hirta

Black-Eyed Susan is a classic summer flower that’s a staple in gardens across the country, and for good reason. With its sunny yellow petals and dark chocolate brown center, it’s the perfect addition to any summer landscape.

5. Verbena

Botanical Name:  Verbena x hybrid

With its long, spiky stems and clusters of small, brightly colored flowers,  Verbena  is sure to add a splash of color to any garden. It’s one of those  summer flowers,  and if you cut it back in the middle of the season, it will still bloom into the fall as well.

6. calendula

Botanical name:  Tagetes spp.

With its bright, sunny blooms in shades of yellow, orange, and red, marigold is a summer staple that doesn’t quit. You can grow this hardy annual as it is excellent for adding a pop of color to beds and borders. This is also one of our favorites!

Another classic summer flower, Zinnia, is known for its bright, long-lasting, cheerful blooms in shades of pink, red, orange, yellow, and white. Zinnia is a hardy annual and one of those  summer flowers that won’t stop blooming  !

Botanical name:  Salvia spp.

This summer-blooming perennial is a favorite among gardeners for its tall spikes of brightly colored flowers. From deep blue to bright red and everything in between, there’s a variety of sage to suit everyone’s taste.
