The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled the shortlists for several categories at the 2024 Academy Awards.
The shortlisted artists for Best Original Song are Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish for their respective Barbie songs – “Dance the Night” and “What Was I Made For?” – as well as Olivia Rodrigo for “Can’t Catch Me Now”, which features on the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Sharon Van Etten’s “Quiet Eyes,” and Jarvis Cocker for Asteroid City’s “Dear Alien (Who Art in Heaven)”. A$AP Rocky, Lenny Kravitz and others also have been shortlisted.
Last year, Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas, won the category for their song “No Time to Die”, which was the theme tune featured in the James Bond film.
Mark Ronson, Ludwig Göransson, Jerskin Fendrix, Mica Levi, Joe Hisaishi, John Williams, the late Robbie Robertson, and Daniel Pemberton, and more are shortlisted for Best Original Score for their work on films such as Barbie, Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon, and The Zone of Interest.
