Dua Lipa has learned the dangers of day drinking with Seth Meyers.
The “Dance the Night Away” singer, 28, ended up tapping out after indulging in several rounds of shots and curious cocktails with Meyers at a Manhattan bar as part of the beloved Late Night drinking segment.
“Oh my God, I can barely see straight,” Dua admitted toward the end of the clip. Still, she appeared interested in another drinking game when the video suddenly paused and emotional music began to play as text appeared onscreen.
“At this point, Dua said she needed a few minutes,” a VoiceOver read. “A few minutes later Dua’s team said she needed a few minutes more. A few minutes after that her team said, ‘Dua has to go home now.’”
The Grammy winner’s early exit unfortunately meant that several pre-planned games for Dua and Seth were cut too. “This meant no Barbie Dream House used as a shot luge,” it continued. “And no Seth and Dua recreating the ‘Houdini’ music video.”
Despite the abrupt ending, the VoiceOver noted that Dua would “eventually sober up and go on to live a long and fruitful life” that saw her win “many, many Grammys.” For Meyers, however, it added that he would “go on to lose many, many, many Emmys (and BAFTAs) to John Oliver.”
The comment about Meyers losing several awards to the Last Week Tonight host came shortly after he voiced his disapproval for the British comedian having his own U.S. talk show in order to avoid having to take a shot. “John Oliver, go back home,” Meyers told the camera as Dua began to laugh. “Go win f—ing BAFTAs, stop taking our Emmys. There’s awards for you.”
“Wow,” Dua replied, “You hate the Brits!” To which Meyers then jokingly responded, “I don’t hate the Brits, I just hate you, John!”
While Meyers was willing to air out his dirty laundry, Dua wasn’t so easily convinced when she was asked to name “a fake ass bitch” or take a shot. “There’s many fake ass bitches in this world,” she acknowledged as she held up the drink, “but I’m not planning on saying it right now.”
The Barbie actress similarly denied to answer a question previously posed to Lizzo about whether she preferred Oprah Winfrey or Beyoncé, simply answering, “I’m not [bleep]ing doing that.”
