H๏τ on the heels of her “Levitating” TikTok music video, Dua Lipa appeared on Good Morning America to announce the nominees in the upcoming American Music Awards. After revealing the artists shortlisted for the first two categories – New Artist of the Year and Collaboration of the Year – Dua was told by the host that she herself is nominated for Favourite Artist Pop or Rock, and Favourite Song Pop or Rock for her smash hit “Don’t Start Now”. In response to the surprise, she remarked, “I’m so grateful. My fans are the main reason I get to do what I do.”
Naturally, the fashion aficionado dressed for the occasion, opting for a tangy lace Burberry dress and thigh-high boots fresh off the brand’s spring/summer 2021 catwalk.
First seen on model Morgan Fernandez as she sashayed through the countryside clearing where Riccardo Tisci’s socially-distanced Burberry extravaganza was filmed, the zesty look had Dua’s name all over it (though she bypᴀssed the bumblebee knit and peaked fisherman’s hat it was originally styled with). A trio of colourful tendril rings by jewellerydesigner Bea Bongiasca – fast becoming a favourite of the star – and a sparkling pavé baguette rock from Shay Jewellery completed her look.
Not only has the singer been nominated for a string of awards at the AMAs, she is also set to perform during the ceremony at the Microsoft Center in LA on 22 November. And before the GMA hosts pointed out that Dua’s Future Nostalgia album has racked up a whopping 4.5 billion streams to date, Dua hinted that she has even more exciting news in the pipeline. “I have quite a few surprises coming up,” she said, adding: “I have another announcement on Wednesday, so stay tuned.” As fans prepare themselves for her AMAs performance (which she was keen to keep quiet about), one thing is certain: her stage looks will be worth the wait.
