Achraf Hakimi Addresses Divorce and Financial Decisions
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star Achraf Hakimi has made headlines with a controversial statement regarding his ex-wife, Hiba Abouk, claiming he realized her intentions toward his wealth early in their marriage. In a widely circulated quote, Hakimi allegedly said, “I realized she was greedy for my money just two months after we got married, so I decided to transfer all my property to my mother’s name and waited impatiently for her to ask for a divorce.” This revelation has sparked intense debate, shedding light on the couple’s high-profile divorce and Hakimi’s unconventional financial decisions.

Hakimi and Abouk, a Spanish-Tunisian actress, married in 2020 and share two sons, Amin and Naim. Their relationship, however, deteriorated, culminating in a divorce finalized in 2023. The split gained significant attention when reports surfaced that Abouk sought a substantial portion of Hakimi’s assets during the proceedings, only to discover that most of his wealth, including properties and a significant portion of his PSG salary, was registered under his mother’s name, Saida Mouh. This move reportedly left Abouk with little to claim, fueling speculation about Hakimi’s motives.

In a 2025 interview on the YouTube program ABTalks, hosted by Anas Bukhash, Hakimi clarified that transferring his assets to his mother was not solely related to his marriage but was rooted in trust and familial bonds. “When you have money or fame, you can only trust a few people. Your mother is the only person who loves you truly, whether you have money or not,” he stated. He emphasized that this arrangement was a longstanding practice, reflecting his deep trust in his mother, who gained public recognition during Morocco’s historic 2022 World Cup campaign.

The divorce was further complicated by external factors, including a 2023 rape allegation against Hakimi, which he denied, claiming he was a victim of blackmail. Abouk, who had already initiated separation proceedings before the allegation, described their marriage as a “failed project” and expressed support for the alleged victim. These events intensified public scrutiny, with some praising Hakimi’s financial strategy while others criticized it as an attempt to evade responsibilities.
Hiba Abouk, in response to the narrative surrounding her, told Marca that she faced a “macho and misogynist” backlash, noting that she was more established than Hakimi when they began their relationship. She also reportedly filed a lawsuit against him for alleged fraud and mismanagement of marital assets, though details of the settlement remain confidential.
Hakimi’s case has sparked broader discussions about trust, financial planning, and gender dynamics in high-profile relationships. While his comments about Abouk have drawn criticism for their tone, they also highlight the complexities of managing wealth under public scrutiny. As Hakimi continues to shine on the pitch, his off-field decisions remain a topic of intense debate.
