Chris Hemsworth Admits His Wife Elsa Pataky Has Had To Make Some Serious Sacrifices For Their Relationship

Celebrity couples often try to paint a picture of perfection when it comes to their relationships. They rarely reveal the strains of their marriages or the sacrifices which, more often than not, the woman has to make, to facilitate their partner’s career.

However Chris Hemsworth has now opened up about how his actress wife Elsa Pataky has made more sacrifices to make their relationship work than he has.

“In terms of work, she’s certainly given up more than I have,” he told GQ Australia. “She’d like me to step back and be at home with the kids more and, of course, I want that too. But I feel like I’m at this crucial point in my career—I’ve just got to set up for longevity or I’ll slip off.”

Hemsworth and Pataky married in 2010 and have since had three children together. Career-wise, the middle Hemsworth (younger brother to Luke and older brother to Liam), has gone from strength to strength, taking on the role of Thor in the Avengers movies as well as roles in Snow White and the Huntsman and Ghostbusters.

Pataky, who hails from Spain, made her name as an actress in films like Snakes on a Plane. Since marrying Hemsworth, she has most notably starred in several of the the Fast and Furious films.

Giving an insight into their marriage, Hemsworth also hinted that his long absences from the family home on film sets can put a strain on their relationship.

“My wife and I fell in love, had kids, didn’t really see each other for a few years, then fell back in love.”

He said he now tries to make sure the couple have regular date nights too.

“Once you have children, every instinct and every moment of your time is consumed by that. You’ve got nothing for each other, so make sure you have date night even if it’s once in a blue moon, because most of the time, you’re just too tired and you’d actually prefer to sleep.”
