Today the global pop superstar dropped her new single and music video for “Houdini” and launched the #DuaLipaHoudini challenge for fans on YouTube Shorts.
This past week Dua Lipa fans from across the globe have been eagerly awaiting the debut of “Houdini.” Earlier today, the GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter dropped the instant classic with a music video directed by Manu Cossu with cinematographer André Chemetoff, which sees Dua post-rehearsal in a dance hall, revising her choreography under fluorescent lights. The lights reflect in the room’s mirrors, creating an optical illusion as the energy begins to swell.
On YouTube, fans everywhere are invited to join the #DuaLipaHoudini challenge, celebrating yet another one of Dua’s sensational hits. The challenge links to the “Houdini” lyric, “Catch me or I go…” which alludes to Dua’s immediate reaction when she sees a red flag in a relationship. The YouTube Shorts challenge encourages fans to show off their disappearing act-transition content using a blanket, curtain or piece of fabric in sync with that song lyric.
In the past year Dua has had over 2.5 billion views globally across her Official Artist Channel, with single day views reaching as high as 9.5 million. Most recently, her epic “Dance the Night” single from this summer’s Barbie soundtrack charted in over 30 markets and her “New Rules” classic is on the very edge of 3 billion views, a feat only a few artists have achieved. With “Houdini” we are sure to be adding more milestones to Dua’s already astounding track record.
