With his contributions to helping Man City win the historic treble, Erling Haaland was selected as the Best Men’s Player of the Year by the European Football Federation (UEFA).

At the draw for the Champions League group on the evening of August 31, UEFA also announced the individual awards. In it, Erling Haaland surpassed Lionel Messi and Kevin De Bruyne to become the “Best Men’s Player of the Year”.

In the 2023-2024 season, Erling Haaland has scored 52 goals in 53 games in all competitions for Man City. He also joined the Etihad Stadium team to win a historic treble with the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup titles.

The Norwegian striker is also the top scorer in the Premier League (36 goals) and the Champions League (12 goals).

Along with Haaland, Man City coach  Pep Guardiola  received the title “Best male coach of the year”. After 7 years with many failures, he finally helped Man City win the precious Champions League title.

He also smashed all criticism that he could only win the Champions League with Barca and Messi. The achievement of helping Man City win three is also the reason why Pep was elected “Best Male Coach of the Year” by UEFA.

In UEFA’s “Best Female Player of the Year” category, the winner was Spanish midfielder Aitana Bonmati (Barcelona Women’s Club). A season with the Women’s Champions League and Women’s World Cup titles helped Bonmati surpass Sam Kerr and Olga Carmona to win.

“Best female coach of the year” belongs to Ms. Sarina Wiegman (Netherlands). Last year, she helped England win the Finalissima championship. At the same time, the “three lions” under the guidance of Wiegman also reached the final of a Women’s World Cup for the first time. However, they lost to the Spanish women’s team in the final.
