Hugh Jackman Checks Out Billboard Promoting Deadpool & Wolverine Movie on The Sunset Strip

Actor Hugh Jackman posted a photo of himself on The Sunset Strip in West Hollywood posing in front of a giant Deadpool and Wolverine movie billboard which he stars in with Ryan Reynolds.

“LFG! #sunsetblvd #deadpoolandwolverine” he captioned his post on Instagram on Wednesday. The photo shows him standing in the heart of The Sunset Plaza on Sunset Boulevard while throwing at hand sign at the movie poster where his character Wolverine is battling it out with Deadpool.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” brings together two beloved Marvel Comics characters in an explosive crossover. Produced by Marvel Studios, Maximum Effort, and 21 Laps Entertainment, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, this film marks the 34th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It serves as a sequel to “Deadpool” (2016) and “Deadpool 2” (2018), as well as a follow-up to “Logan” (2017).

Directed by Shawn Levy, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells, the film stars Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprising their roles as Deadpool and Wolverine. The supporting cast includes Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Aaron Stanford, and Matthew Macfadyen.

The plot sees the Time Variance Authority (TVA) pulling Deadpool from his quiet life to embark on a mission to save his universe, leading him to clash with a Wolverine from another universe. “Deadpool & Wolverine” bridges the MCU with the X-Men film series, which was produced by 20th Century Fox from 2000 to 2020. Reynolds, Jackman, and other familiar faces from the X-Men series return for this crossover event.

Development for the third Deadpool film initially began at Fox in November 2016 as part of the X-Men series. However, progress stalled following Disney’s acquisition of Fox in March 2019. Marvel Studios then took over, working with Reynolds to integrate Deadpool into the MCU. The film maintains the R rating of its predecessors and “Logan,” marking the first MCU film to have such a rating. Writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin joined in November 2020, with Reese and Wernick returning for rewrites by March 2022. Levy was brought on as director at that time, and the team struggled with the story until Jackman agreed to reprise his role as Wolverine in August 2022.

Filming began in May 2023 at Pinewood Studios in England, with additional locations in Norfolk and Bovingdon Film Studios. Production faced a halt in July due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, resuming in November and wrapping in January 2024. The film’s title was announced a month later.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” premiered on July 22, 2024, at the David H. Koch Theater in New York City and is set for a U.S. release on July 26, 2024, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
