Education & Times – South Korean star Son Heung Min has astonishingly surpassed Lionel Messi’s record for jersey sales in just a few days.
Less than two weeks after signing with Los Angeles FC, South Korean forward Son Heung Min has sparked a frenzy in the United States, with his jerseys selling out worldwide.

The sales figures for Son’s jerseys have outpaced those of global icons like Lionel Messi, LeBron James, and Stephen Curry, leaving many in awe.
This data was revealed by Los Angeles FC’s co-president and CEO, John Thorrington, based on real-time sales statistics since Son officially joined the club.
“For the second consecutive week, we’re not just talking about the best-selling soccer jersey in MLS, but the top-selling jersey of any athlete worldwide. Since Son signed, no one has sold more jerseys than him,” Thorrington told the media.
“Currently, Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi remain the top-selling football jersey athletes in 2025, based on the data I’ve been provided. However, Son Heung Min has already reached nearly half their total jersey sales in a very short time,” Thorrington added.

Son’s appeal is also creating a “storm” in the ticket market. According to South Korea’s Korea Times, ticket prices for Los Angeles FC matches have skyrocketed since the Asian star joined the team.
Specifically, ticket prices for the match between Los Angeles FC and San Diego FC on September 1 have surged dramatically, jumping from around $300 to as high as $1,500.
At 32 years old, Son Heung Min has won the “Asian Footballer of the Year” award seven times and was a cornerstone of Tottenham Hotspur for a decade.
After a glorious 10-year journey at Tottenham, capped with a Europa League title, Son Heung Min has now officially joined Los Angeles FC, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown with Messi on American soil.
