These are the villains Spider-Man will reportedly face in his upcoming MCU trilogy

Very few superheroes get the luxury of having a trilogy of their own, let alone having a fourth entry in their saga. Even the wall-crawler himself hasn’t been able to surpass this mark yet, but that is about to change. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently in production, and it will be less than a year until audiences finally get to watch what Peter Parker has been up to since the world forgot he ever existed. The best part? The highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe project will likely be the first entry in a brand new trilogy.

We’ve all seen countless stories of Peter living through his high school and teenage years, so the idea of watching Tom Holland’s Spidey grow older in a new series of movies is nothing short of exciting. If the spectacular Ultimate Spider-Man comic book series proves anything, it is that fans resonate with a grown-up portrayal of the character who has even more responsibilities.

However, this also raises an important question: Who else could the wall-crawler face going forward in the MCU? Fortunately, a new report just gave us the answer, and it seems there’s nothing but trouble in Peter’s future. Venom, Kingpin, and more villains will face Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in his new trilogy

According to renowned scooper Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus), Spidey’s upcoming MCU trilogy is likely to be his last. While it’s definitely bitter news, he also revealed the identity of the villains who will appear in the hero’s upcoming set of movies. The Kingpin, Venom, Tombstone, Hammerhead, and Prowler are all likely candidates to steal the spotlight next, and the list certainly gives us an insight into the MCU’s master plan moving forward.

For starters, the idea of Peter Parker being out of the picture while the Prowler makes his live-action debut seems to indicate that Miles Morales could take over the Spider-Man mantle. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that Miles can’t appear in the MCU — at least not while Sony finishes the Spider-Verse animated trilogy.

Interestingly enough, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will hit theaters in 2027, and after that, anything could be possible. Incidentally, Avengers: Secret Wars will also be released in 2027, so it could be the perfect chance to introduce Brooklyn’s protector on the big screen and give him a permanent spot in the MCU (much like it happened in comic book pages after the Secret Wars event).

Alex Perez also unveiled that the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Brand New Day could tease Peter Parker crossing paths with Wilson Fisk. This comes after Marvel hid (and confirmed the existence of) a Spider-Man Easter Egg in the finale of Daredevil: Born Again. Coupled with The Punisher’s confirmed appearance in the wall-crawlers’ upcoming movie, it’s not far-fetched to assume a Spidey and Daredevil crossover is on the cards (which would be nothing short of exciting).

Venom is, of course, a very likely villain to face off against the web-slinger, considering that a piece of the symbiote was left behind in the MCU during the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Besides, it’s worth noting that Mac Gargan has taken on the Venom mantle in comic book pages, and he’s confirmed to appear in Brand New Day. Granted, Mac will become Scorpion in the upcoming Marvel movie, but actor Michael Mando has teased that there’s room for his character to bond with the symbiote.

There’s also a common pattern among villains like Kingpin, Tombstone, Hammerhead, and Prowler in that they are all street-level threats. After going to space to fight Thanos and one (amazing) multiversal adventure, all signs indicate that Spidey will be going back to his roots and act like a friendly neighborhood hero, and we couldn’t be more excited. Fortunately, it won’t be long before we get a glimpse of what the MCU has in store for Spidey.
